Rowena Reed Kostellow*

Rowena Reed Kostellow, FIDSA
(1900-1988)

US sculptor, designer and educator born in Kansas City, MO and received a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. She studied sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute and painting at the Art Students League.

She married Alexander Kostellow and in the late 1920s taught with him at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh, PA.

In 1938, with her husband at Pratt Institute, she taught industrial design, chaired the design department from 1962-1966, and continued teaching until 1987.
