A New Airplane for a New World: 787 Dreamliner | DOWD

Session Title:
A New Airplane for a New World: 787 Dreamliner
KEN DOWD

Dowd will discuss the distinct collaborative design process and research strategy implemented by Teague and The Boeing Co. to create a new travel experience from the ground up. The 787 Dreamliner demonstrates a desirable industry shift toward point-to-point travel, experience driven design and sustainability. Competition among airlines is fierce as they struggle to meet high demand in a post-9/11 culture and depressed economy. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the industry’s response to the simultaneous shift in demand and expectations. Its launch was considered the most successful for a commercial aircraft in history with orders valued at $150 billion.
