Megan Stanton, IDSA
IDSA Board of Directors, Sections VP: 2011–2013
Megan is an independent designer who previously worked at Samsung North America. Prior to Samsung, Megan was a senior manager of design at a start-up research company in Culver City, Calif. where she co-developed a new design-centric approach to research with a statistician, a market research guru, and a team of young interdisciplinary minds. Before jutting off on this adventure, Megan spent four and a half years managing new vehicle development efforts within Nissan's Advanced Planning and Strategy team. In this role, she lead cross-functional teams through fuzzy front end of the product development process including managing upstream research projects, target customer definition, early concept generation, platform selection, competitive analysis, volume and price positioning.
Before joining Nissan, Megan helped to start Bright Innovation, a product development firm in Pittsburgh. During an earlier series of independent consulting projects and master’s internships, she developed consumer insights, product concepts, and business plans for companies such as International Truck (automotive), Thoughtform Design (signage), Respironics (medical devices), New Balance (clothing), Children’s Furniture Company (furniture), and Leeds (soft goods). Accomplishments during this period include four patents and six products brought to production, completion of full-scale mockups, and extensive collaboration with design, engineering, marketing and senior management. Megan holds a bachelor's in industrial design and a master's in product development from Carnegie Mellon University.
