Mary Beth Privitera is co-developer and faculty in the Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Cincinnati. She is an assistant professor of Biomedical Engineering and instructor of Industrial Design. Privitera is currently a consultant for the medical device industry and is Vice President of Education for the Industrial Designers Society of America. She is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Human Factors Committee, American Society of Engineering Educators, Product Development and Management Association and Design Management Institute. She has been associated with more than 30 product releases, holds five patents and several provisional patents. Additionally, she has published and lectured on a variety of topics, including collaborative design, surgical techniques and human factors. Privitera received her bachelor's in industrial design from the University of Cincinnati in 1985 and master's of design in 1995. Current research/design efforts include human factors in interventional therapies modeling human-device interactions as they translate into clinical actions.
