IDEA Winners Shine in “Best Global Brands 2011” Highlighting the Link Between Design Excellence and Brand Success
“Great design begins and ends with a deep understanding of people’s innermost needs and desires with a responsibility to society. When designers are successful at this, it creates tremendous economic value and makes life and the world a better place.”
Davin Stowell
CEO, Smart Design
IDEA 2011 Jury Chair
How do businesses grow and thrive in challenging economic times? They build strong brands that resonate with consumers and engender loyalty. They understand and address people’s innermost needs and desires. Sometimes, as was the case with Steve Jobs, they are true visionaries that fulfill needs and desires that consumers and end users aren’t yet aware they have.
What else do visionary successful companies have in common? They share a commitment to good design as an integral part their business model and their products and services. IDEA winners are consistently recognized as examples of great design uniquely capable of influencing the world around us and shaping the future.
Nowhere is the link between design excellence and brand success more apparent than in Interbrand’s recently released list of “Best Global Brands 2011.”
Nineteen of the top 25 companies named Best Global Brands 2011, a full 76%, offer products or services that have been honored with IDEAs for the design excellence. Seven of the top 10 have an ongoing commitment to design excellence that has earned their designers a staggering 145 Gold, Silver, Bronze IDEAs. More and more consumers and end users are responding to great design and sending that message to business in the form of brand loyalty and revenue.
There is no substitute for greatness. Great design is happening everywhere. On Dec. 1 IDEA 2012 opens for entries and begins this year’s worldwide search for exceptional design that epitomizes quality across design mediums and platforms. We invite you to participate, share your exceptional designs and help IDEA 2012 showcase the best examples of design insight, talent, passion, innovation and design excellence to media, business, consumers and end users worldwide when the 2012 winners are announced in July on IDSA.org.
New expanded categories for 2012 reflect the changing face of design and offer more opportunities to participate including: Digital Design; Service Design; Social Impact Design; Bathrooms, Spas and Wellness; Gardens and Outdoor; Kitchens; and Living Room and Bedroom.
