Gillette® Venus®

The Venus razor improves the experience of one of life’s never ending chores: shaving. Its design makes the whole process of shaving better, faster, safer and simpler—for her, rather than him. Unlike men, women shave while standing in a wet, slippery shower environment. They often balance on one leg and must bend and twist to see and reach where they want to shave. And a modern razor blade is the sharpest object that the average person typically encounters—and they drag it over their skin.

Working in concert with the ergonomic handle, Venus is specifically designed to address safety and the issues unique to shaving a woman’s body. The rounded head, the soft protective cushions and a forward pivoting action work together so that the whole razor head glides gently and safely over skin and around curves. The handle’s ergonomic shape accommodates the grip for a wide range of users, in either the left or right hand, and improves handling and control so even places that are hard to see or reach can be shaved safely and quickly—in even the most challenging of conditions. The shower-safe cartridges protect the blades from exposure to water and humidity to maintain optimal performance and hygiene and enable simple, safe blade replacement, eliminating the risk of cuts when changing blades.

The Venus Razor, the first wet-shaving product designed for women, was a breakthrough concept, creating a thriving female-specific business. In the almost 10 years since it was launched, the brand has experienced an 8–10 percent compounded annual growth rate. Consumers say that since using Venus they are happier and more confident shaving. Venus also has an approximate 65 percent repeat rate—the highest loyalty in the female shaving category.
