Mark Palmer, a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology’s industrial design program won the Industrial Designers Society of America’s (IDSA) National Student Merit Award at its northeast district conference in spring 2006. Palmer beat out design students from nine other universities in the northeast area of the country. RIT students have won the award two of the three years since the award’s inception.
“After looking into the tea drinking experience, I found that current tea infusers have multiple parts and have problems with dripping and stability,” Sukphisit reported.
When Liana Kalushner scrolled through possible professions before choosing a course of study, the recent University of the Arts graduate contemplated some obvious options before settling on the not-so-obvious.
“I considered graphic design, fashion design, interior design, event coordination and even hotel management,” Kalushner noted. “As soon as I heard about industrial design, I felt like it was a perfect match. It’s elusive, yet it affects us on a personal level in every aspect of daily life.”
