As soon as she figured out she could design a car for homework, Kerstin Strom gave up a career in law in favor of design. Since then, she's pursued a career based, in part, on connectivity. She talked to us about that as well as sustainability and "the proprietary mindest" of some designers.
Watch the 'By Design' video series, brought to you by Plastics News and IDSA
Plastics News shot this video series at IDSA's international conference in Miami in 2009. Some clips are drawn from speaker presentations while others are based on interviews conducted on-site by PN Editor Robert Grace.
Each month, we'll make a post where you can share all your latest and greatest sources of design inspiration.
So...go ahead. Tell us what or who is inspiring you right now.
NOTE: In order to contribute comments to these forums, you need to log onto the IDSA website (free) in the log in box in the right hand column of any page. Or if you prefer, send your comments to Tim Adkins We look forward to your comments!
Innovation is a quarterly publication. Three issues a year have main themes accompanied by 2-3 feature articles and regular columns. The fourth issue—The Yearbook of Industrial Design Excellence—chronicles that year's International Design Excellence Award (IDEA) Winners. This means that IDSA only has room for 6-9 feature articles per year. These articles come from member proposals.
Welcome to Innovation, IDSA's quarterly design journal and one of the best places to learn about the practice of design. Every issue of Innovation reaches the IDSA membership, the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, universities, associations and design offices around the world.
