Developed by Bret Smith, IDSA, Chair of the Design History Section at Auburn University, this website celebrates the determination, audacity and ingenuity of the industrial design profession. Here you will find stories about the people who design products and systems for production, utility, comfort and beauty. These wide-ranging stories, often personal and humorous, provide a look into the rich history and socio-economic impact of industrial design.

Industrialdesignhistory,com launched in August. The site is designed to be a place to collect, preserve and tell the stories of our profession. While the site was made possible by the generous support of the Department of Industrial and Graphic Design at Auburn University, its faculty, and members of the IDSA History Section, the site is designed to serve as a repository for images, stories and video from all of those interested in industrial design history.
