Chicago Furniture Now Competition

The North Avenue Studio of Design Within Reach is hosting a juried competition entitled MODERN + DESIGN + FUNCTION: Chicago Furniture Now to support new, innovative furniture designs by emerging Chicago designers. Launched last year to an enthusiastic regional design community, Chicago Furniture Now was created to foster new ideas in modern furniture design in the Chicago area.

Presentation by Bill Fluharty

Director of Advanced Industrial Design for Johnson Controls, he's responsible for overseeing product concept development, future product conceptualization and visualization for all advanced seating, and interior industrial design studios globally. Prior to this appointment, Fluharty served as advanced design manager for the former Prince Corporation (acquired by Johnson Controls in 1996) since 1995, where he oversaw operations at the Holland, Michigan studio.

Preview | Working Session 7

Come out and participate in this challenging series. The Working Sessions are two-hour concept generation events. Teams are comprised of students and professionals. All teams are given a project theme and a time limit. It is a fun way to kick start your mind and support local ID education.
