The IDSA Executive Committee may vote a Special Award to organizations and projects for: notable results; creative and innovative concepts; and long-term benefits to the profession, its educational functions and society at large. Prior to 1996, this award was given to individuals as well.
These awards are made by IDSA's Executive Committee to individuals whose involvement in and support of design has made him or her a special friend of the profession and major contributor to its long-term welfare and importance.
The IDSA Education Award is presented in recognition of significant and distinguished contributions to the field of industrial design education. This annual award is presented to an IDSA member who has:
Earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and students for his/her teaching of industrial design and
Maintained unwavering commitment to the values and principles of the industrial design profession.
