Our friend Stefani Bachetti, IDSA, a practicing design researcher and visualizer with Insight Product Development, sat in on the 2014 Midwest District Design Conference and sketched notes of the conference's talks.
Below, for your reference, are her sketches. They tell a pretty dynamic story. And they're a very handy way of referencing some of the conference's top takeaways. [NOTE: Click on images to view larger versions.]
The IDSA Chicago Chapter held their first Fall Frenzy party at Beyond Design, in Ravenswood, on November 6th, 2013.
Beyond Design was the ideal location, with their fire pit providing attendees with a warm bonfire on a cool night. Attendees roasted marshmallows, made ‘smores, drank festive cider, and made meaningful connections with each other in Beyond Design’s beautiful outdoor courtyard. A variety of students and design professionals attended the festivities, emblematic of Chicago’s diverse industrial design community.
May 14-15, 2013 Venue SIX10, Spertus Institute 610 S Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60605
The nature of healthcare, education, governance, banking and other pillars of society were once understandable and stable. Due to new technology and business models, they are now perplexing and volatile. The standard methods and frameworks invented in the 20th century to help leaders manage with certainty are now inadequate. Leaders are realizing that design can help them navigate the world.
IDSA Chicago would like to thank everyone who attended the IDSA Chicago Annual Holiday Party, hosted by The Bedford. We would also like thank the design firms who donated products and books to our raffle; such as MNML, Inventables, and all who helped! We hope everyone had an excellent Holiday season. From the IDSA Chicago Board, we wish you a Happy New Year! We hope to see you at our IDSA Chicago events in 2013!
-Special thanks to Peter Wachter for taking photos of the event-
