LUMIUM is glad to launch a Global Product Design Competition ILLUNOVA -2013 on the occasion of World Industrial Design Day (WIDD). With the aim to encourage the young designers, LUMIUM is announcing this contest for Industrial designers & Students on the theme of “Design A Future Communication Device” to showcase their innovative talent. This contest would be released from June 14, 2013 for 15 days.  Winners will be announced on June 29, 2013.

Hot on the heels of our successful IDSA SV + IxDA SV event with Genevieve Bell, we've decided it would be fun to get both design groups together again for a low-key mixer. 

June 6th we will be at the bar at Madam Tam in Palo Alto starting at 6:30pm. You should be able to spot a group of friendly faces gathered around a sign sporting our two logos.

It’s a quarter to six, Tuesday, May 7, 2013. I’m at the Financial Engines headquarters in Sunnyvale, pouring wine and arranging snacks, pretending to help the volunteers prepare for tonight’s IDSA + IxDA event. All of a sudden, I feel the energy in the room go up. I turn around to see Genevieve Bell walking toward me. Camera flashes go off, she signs autographs and shakes hands with us plebes in the crowd. OK, not really, but people are excited.

New Deadline: 15th April  Ethnography + Design = Inspired Artifacts Are you a designer who uses ethnography in your work? Or maybe you've made something with ethnographers? Think about submitting an “Artifact” to the Ethnographic Praxis in Industry Conference which happens in London, September 15-18, 2013.

The IDSA Silicon Valley Chapter and IxDA Silicon Valley are teaming up to bring you a fun evening with Dr. Genevieve Bell, Director of Interaction and Experience Research at Intel, and co-author of Divining a Digital Future: Mess and Mythology in Ubiquitous Computing. Genevieve Bell’s groundbreaking work at the intersection of technology and social science garnered her the distinction of being one of Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People in Business in 2010, among many other honors.
