2012 IDSA Midwest Design Dialogue Conference


		David Weightman, IDSA As IDSA’s Midwest District VP, it is my great pleasure to announce the upcoming Midwest Design Dialogue Conference, April 13-14 in Chicago. The theme for all five 2012 Design Dialogue Conferences is Evolving Design Practice, and our focus within that theme is Exploring Creative Fusion. So, what does that mean? It means that we will bring together over 500 design professionals, design educators, students and business leaders for an in-depth exploration of design processes and relationships. We will evaluate the rapidly evolving connection between designer, client and consumer, learn how this synergy is central to the design process and how we use these connections in a common purpose for creative innovation. We will look at evolving practices through stimulating case studies and inspirational speaker perspectives and use Chicago itself, one of the most creative cities in the US, to bring in viewpoints from widely diverse creative local and regional practitioners. Join us for terrific speakers and workshops on Friday many more great speakers, some interesting events and the presentation of Student Merit Awards on Saturday. We have consolidated everything into a single track with 20-minute sessions so you can be part of everything and avoid the usual conference problem of deciding which talks to go to. We are also filling both nights with fun social events that could include visits to local design powerhouses, as well as educational, musical, gastronomic or architectural excursions.
