What is the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA)? Founded in 1965, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is one of the world’s oldest, largest, member-driven societies for product design, industrial design, interaction design, human factors, ergonomics, design research, design management, universal design and related design fields. IDSA produces the renowned International Design Excellence Award (IDEA®) competition annually; hosts the International Design Conference and five regional conferences each year; and publishes Innovation, a quarterly journal on design, and designBytes, a weekly e-newsletter highlighting the latest headlines in the design world. IDSA's charitable arm, the Design Foundation, supports the dissemination of undergraduate scholarships annually to further industrial design education. IDSA has more than 3,000 members in 27 chapters in the U.S. and internationally.
What is the IDSA International Conference? Each year, between 800 and 1,000 design practitioners, business leaders, educators and students from all over the world gather for IDSA’s International Conference and Education Symposium. This event combines provocative speakers with practical information and solutions as well as plenty of time for building personal and professional connections. When and where is the 2011 IDSA International Conference? IDSA will hold this year’s conference from Sept. 14 to 17 at The Roosevelt Hotel New Orleans located in New Orleans, LA.
Do I have to be an IDSA member to register? No. IDSA members receive discounted rates for the conference but you can register to attend the conference at the nonmember rate. For information on how to become a member you may contact Katie Fleger, manager of member relations.

What is the dress code? Business casual What is the weather like in New Orleans in September? For September, New Orleans highs average in the mid to upper 80s and lows in the lower 70s.
