2011 IDSA Northeast Conference

2011 IDSA Northeast Conference

Why do we need new designs? Is it simply to create another version of last year's gizmo? Ideally, the goal is to improve the world we live in. But that can mean a lot of different things—a healthier planet, a better user experience, a growing business, a stronger community and more. What do you design for?

At the 2011 IDSA Northeast Conference, the speakers will explain what they Design4 and their innovative approaches for reaching their goals. And what's a conference without some skill-building, awards, partying and schmoozing? We've got it all!

Join us for this exciting conference featuring keynotes John Maeda and Scott Wilson and an exceptional group of top notch speakers.

  • John Maeda, president, Rhode Island School of Design
Young people today are finding ways to transform their education by designing new types of learning experiences. Whether they are designing objects, information, sustainable spaces, new business models or modes of delivering education, they are designing new ways to look at, learn from and change the world.
    Friday, April 8: 1:45-2:45 PM
  • Scott Wilson, founder, MINIMAL
Entrepreneurship Explored: Whether corporate, consultant or start-up, Scott Wilson has never been one to subscribe to business as usual. He will share behind the scenes stories into how being disruptive has led to consistent and sustainable success throughout his career and at his studio MINIMAL. From Xbox Kinect, the fastest selling gadget in consumer electronics history, to his TikTok+LunaTik multi-touch watches that raised $1 million in 30 days through crowd-funding, Wilson will discuss the importance of always being entrepreneurial at heart.
